Quote of the Day
It's fascinating to think that all around us there's an invisible world we can't even see. I'm speaking, of course, of the World of the Invisible Scary Skeletons.

Well Sunday afternoon we headed off on the ferry to the Island Zanzibar for three days! The ferry is quite exciting itself! All these people yelling and pushing, others trying to carry your luggage and basicly trying to force you to take there taxi! lots of fun... :-)

First night we basicly just relaxed on the beach and took Madeline in the sea. Monday we were up early to take a prison island tour and go snorkeling! Prison island as you can guess used to be used for prisoners although we missed that part of the trip. We think it might have been because the guy we were paying the entrance fee to didn't believe that Marry was a resident of Dar-Es-Salam and almost wouldn't let us in for the residents price.. But we did see the sea turtles! Some pretty big ones around 85 years old and some itsy bitsy ones. We fed them and gave them a pet.. :-) Amazing that they have been on this planet for 180 million years and we have only been here for 2 million years.

Next was snorkling off the corral reefs. I can't possibly describe how beautiful it was! It was low tide as well so we were littarly 5 feet at times from the corral. We wouldn't have come out but we were getting stung by little jelly fish.. :-) not too bad but they were getting worse..

Then we relaxed on the beach of another island as we waited for our lunch to be cooked.. :-) We had fresh cooked crab, giant prawns, Callamari, some kind of fish, pasta salad, patato salad, fresh cut pineapple, paw paw (papaya?). basicly I gorged myself and then jumped off some small cliffs into the water.. :-)

There is more but I must be going.. See you all soon!

Just think Bill, after all that fun in the water and all the beautiful sites you can come back home and dig out the shovels for yet another fun filled winter in Massachusetts. I guess I'm just a wee bit envious of you. Glad to here that your enjoying yourself and may you have a safe trip home. Can't wait to see all the stills and videos.

Wow Bill! It all sounds like a paradise! You'll have to tell me more about the corals if you can. I've studied all sorts of fossil corals last year in one of my favorite classes, Invertebrate Paleontology. Do you know what kind they are? You, Vicky, and Madeline really know how to take a vacation! :-)

Happy to hear you're all having such a good time. I, too, am envious. Sometimes I feel all I do is work. I keep hoping that one day I'll be able to take a real vacation again somewhere. I don't care where as long as I can do anything I want, even if that's nothing.
